Horley Town Council
Horley Town Council has used the services of TNC (IT Solutions) Ltd since 2000 when a website was
first created for the town.
The web site first started as a community based website which served its intended purpose in keeping
the local community informed. However, as technology moved on and the Town Council had aspirations to
achieve the coveted local government “Quality Status”, it was important that the website was revamped to
encompass a much greater amount of information. This was to include all council information and its
services, directories of local businesses and organisations, and a “what’s on” diary, where information
could be submitted to HTC for subsequent authorisation. TNC were able to advise us throughout the crucial
stages of the entire development and implementation. It has resulted in Horley having a far greater
presence on the internet, especially judged by the inflow of e-mail traffic from UK, and especially USA
and Canada. The average number of page requests now stands at 15,000+ visits per month, very high for
a town of our size.
In 2005 the Town Council received a top award for its website from the National Association of Local
Councils (listed in the top 5 out of 10,000 local councils) and in 2007 we were again delighted to have
been short listed.

Before meeting Martyn and Brenda Fewtrell and their web site company, TNC (IT Solutions)
Ltd, I had been using the services of 3 different web site design and marketing companies
in Canada. I had come to the conclusion that web site marketing didn't work and that the
first priority of these companies was to sufficiently confuse their clients and thus hiding
how little they actually knew about internet marketing. At that time I had a reasonably
attractive web site but I just wasn't getting any response from it.
By chance I met Martyn and Brenda Fewtrell. I told Martyn of my grief with my existing
web site. He explained to me, in understandable English, what the problems were with my
site and why no one could actually find us and his reasoning made logical sense. Within 4
or 5 months I had decided to transfer the management of my site to the Fewtrells at TNC.
Initially it seemed "out of the way" to have a UK based business handling the management of
a Canadian web site, but I was soon to realise that distance is of no consequence in the
world of the internet.
Since we transferred our business to TNC in 2003 our site has grown considerably and
our monthly hits have seen as much as a 500% increase. Up until 2003 we were still relying
on printed adverts to market our business and its products, and at a significant cost. Today
we rely solely on our web site for all of our sales and so eliminating the monthly cost of
advertising in as many as 9 different publications.
Working with the Fewtrells and TNC has been a very positive experience for our business.
Martyn and Brenda really understand their work and have been more than willing to explain,
in simple terms, what we need to do to improve the success of my site. They are straight
forward folk who won't lead you astray.
